First check the alignment by using 5 feet or more of good quality vinyl. Load the vinyl film into the plotter and close the pinches. Now feed the vinyl back and forth a couple of times for a few feet to determine if the vinyl is running straight. If the vinyl shifts to the right when it is moved forward, release the left pinches and keep the right pinch down. Then pull the left side of the vinyl a little and close the pinches again. Now feed the vinyl back and forth again to check to see if the vinyl is running straight. Repeat until vinyl runs straight.

Move the pen or blade to the beginning part of the vinyl film. Push the leave button and then manually press down on the pen or blade.  Use the DOWN arrow to draw a line about 2 to 3 inches. Release the pen or blade and then press the DOWN arrow to move the vinyl film forward for 4 feet (on the display of the plotter, 1000 = 1 inch, so 4 feet = 48000) then press the UP arrow to move the vinyl back to the starting area. Manually press down the pen or blade again, using the DOWN arrow to draw another 2 to 3 inch line. If the second line does not overlay the first line, Move the pen or blade to the left or right and do a few more tests. If the second lines are always on the same side of the first lines, you may need to adjust the tension of the pinch rollers. If the second line is always on the left side of the first line, it means the vinyl shifts to right in which case you need to tighten up the right side pinches or loosen the left side pinches. If the second line is always on the right side of the first line, it means the vinyl shifts to the left, in which case you would need to tighten up the left side pinches or loosen the right side pinches. Repeat test after every adjustment until the first and second line overlap.
